AceMagic's AX15 Laptop Review: Slim, Functional, And Ready To Explore

Laptop Provided for Review by AceMagic

Picking out the right computer for your needs is a task that can be challenging. There are so many different aspects to consider, builds to shift through, and brand names to consider. Here we have the AX15 Laptop from AceMagic, which is sometimes simply referred to as ‘Ace’ instead, and it may be the starting point to get the computer of your dreams.

Now, for those of you who are just looking for a functional laptop that is easy to use and built to get some work done, then you don’t need to do anything further as this laptop is ready to go for standard working needs. However, for those who are looking for a gaming laptop, this is a strong step forward and you’ll only need a small upgrade to make that happen.

What’s In The Box

The AX15 comes with everything you would expect. Opening the box you find two core items: the laptop itself and the charging cable. These are the only things you need to get a laptop to work, so it makes sense that they don’t have anything else with it. Of course, they have the paperwork to go over the warranty and details regarding the laptop itself for those who like to look through the fine print.

Aesthetics and Build Quality

For those that don’t like using the touchpad, it may be worth picking up a cheap wireless mouse to go with the laptop. They can simply be plugged in and ready to go in an instant, just as you would expect with modern equipment and computers these days. But the touchpad is well designed, being plenty big enough for free movement while having space for your wrist to rest whether you are left or right-handed.

Because of the large touchpad, the keyboard itself seems to be small when looking at it but once actually using it, it doesn’t feel different from other keyboards. They utilize the full base of the laptop for functionality by moving the keyboard up from where most laptops have them, giving space to the touchpad. In order to pull this off, the usual button that takes up the top row of a laptop - the power button - is added to the keyboard itself. The power button that makes the laptop function can be found at the top right, where you would usually find it, and it will look like a keyboard key. At first, I was annoyed by this, but after looking over the overall design and using it a few times, it actually makes a lot of sense.

As for the laptop itself, it is a really thin and light piece of equipment. Changing rooms, packing it up in a backpack, and generally pulling it out whenever I needed to use it was always really simple to do. I would suggest getting some kind of covering for it to keep it safe or simply getting an actual laptop bag that is made to be protective of the equipment.

Specs and Special Features

The AX15 comes packed with all of the latest aspects you want to see in a computer. Of course, it is missing a key component for gamers - the graphics card. However, adding a graphics card isn’t a big deal and leaves room for users to get the one that fits their needs best. But, here’s a quick list of what it does come with:

  • Intel 12th generation Alder Lake N95 processor

  • Integrated Intel UHD graphics up to 1200MHz

  • 16GB DDR4 RAM

  • Built-in 512GB M.2 SSD

  • Support expansion of 128GB TF card

  • Pre-installed Windows 11 Pro system setup

  • Built-in 720P front camera centered above the screen frame

  • Bluetooth 5.0

  • 38Wh Battery

  • 15.6-inch screen with a thin-bezel display

  • A 180° lay-flat hinge

With a promised 8-hour battery life, easy install setup, and strong functional components, there were quite a few things to consider. It’s almost surprising that it only weighs 1.6kg and features a thickness of only 0.66in. I am happy to say that the battery life does last as long as it should, if not longer (depending on your settings), and getting everything ready to go on this laptop was as easy as opening it and answering a few questions for Windows.

As for what port options the laptop hold, you have 3 Type A USB slots, an HDMI slot, a MicroSD slot, a headphone 3.5mm jack slot, a Type C USB slot, and the power cable plug-in slot.

What It Could Have Done Better

While the built-in microphone and speakers do work, I would suggest still using a headset or earbuds in place of them. Being able to use the laptop’s pre-built options is nice, but the quality isn’t as good as it could be. Of course, when you have items built with the intent of being a microphone or sound system, it will be better almost naturally, but I just wasn’t impressed with the one that comes with the laptop.

Verdict

The AX15 Laptop is a bargain option considering its price tag and what it comes with! It quite literally has everything you could ask for in the base form of the laptop and it can be upgraded to be a gaming laptop with one simple component upgrade. It functions very well, it is super easy to use, provides a comfortable style in its layout, and can handle all the multi-tasking users that need to use it. This is definitely a laptop I suggest picking up if you are in the market.

The AX15 Laptop is available now on the AceMagic website and on Amazon. Make sure you check both options for the best deal!
