Amiibo Will Be Supported On BAYONETTA 2 For The Switch, Plus Other Details

During last year's The Game Awards, Platinum Games announced that Bayonetta 3 is slated to be released on the Nintendo Switch. The company also revealed at the event that the highly-acclaimed Wii U title Bayonetta 2 will also be revived for the Nintendo Switch so that players who may have missed it on the Wii U, can get a chance to play the game before the release of the latest entry.

Now,  the UK site of Nintendo has announced that the game will be compatible with Nintendo’s Amiibo figures. Players will be able to receive Nintendo-themed costumes and weapons when they scan compatible Amiibo figures in Bayonetta 2. In the past version of the game for the Wii U, costumes inspired by numerous franchises such as Metroid, Star Fox, and others were made available by playing through the game. However, for the Nintendo Switch, players have the option to unlock them instantly through compatible Amiibo’s or by obtaining them like they did in the Wii U, the old school way.

Bayonetta 2 will also have multiplayer support by allowing players to play the Tag Climax mode both online and locally. However, players should note that the local multiplayer of Tag Climax would not support a split screen mode on a single Switch. Instead, players will need two copies of the game and two Switch units to play the local multiplayer mode.

Besides Bayonetta 2 & 3, it was also announced during last month’s Game Awards that the original Bayonetta will be released as a bundle with Bayonetta 2 on February 16. Platinum Games is still yet to reveal the release of the newest entry in the series, but at least the early release of the two previous games can give newcomers to the franchise a chance to catch up on the story.
