ETERNAL HOPE ‘A Shining Light in a Shadow World’
Over the last three years, Indie game studio Doublehit Games has been hard at work finishing their latest creation, Eternal Hope. A 2D puzzle-platformer with a Studio Ghibli-esque art style, Eternal Hope puts players in the shoes of Ti’bi, a boy seeking solace after the death of his girlfriend. Overcome with grief, Ti’bi sets out on a journey across two clashing worlds to be reunited with his true love. On this journey, Ti’bi will bounce between his world and a parallel universe called the Shadow World.
Venturing into the Shadow World is essential to Ti’bi, by going between dimensions he’s able to see alternate paths to get across the land. There is danger on his journey, as he needs to watch out for the An’mu. The An’mu are the beastly dwellers of the Shadow World. Ti’bi will use these creatures to traverse the land and overcome any obstacles he comes by. Although most An’mu will be helpful on his journey, some have turned corrupt and will try to destroy Ti’bi if given the chance.
On June 2nd, Doublehit gave us an announcement trailer which showcased some gameplay and story elements. We were treated to a secondary trailer (on June 10th) which included a more in-depth look at the Shadow World. Doublehit most recently dropped a “Making Of” video explaining their world and the story within it. Perfecting the art, story, and sound were critical to them in bringing their game to life. The team is excited to have players dive into the game and start exploring. Doublehit states that Eternal Hope will be launching on Steam August 6th with an expected Xbox One release for late 2020.
I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds when I journey into Eternal Hope!
