FORTNITE’s Collision Event Has Left Players Vibin’

Fortnite’s colossal, season-ending event, Collision, has arrived, and it brought all the mech mayhem the teases promised. Players joined up with Paradigm, a member of the Seven, to pilot a gargantuan, mechanical bear directly into the Imagined Order’s headquarters. Four players were grouped together for the event, which involved using the mech’s various weapons to cut a swath through the Imagined Order’s forces and then hopping out for some more traditional, run-and-gun action.

We also got to see the Zero Point up close again, which showed flashes of a variety of different universes including one where Obi-Wan Kenobi was locked in a fierce lightsaber duel with Darth Vader. Then Slone, the leader of the Imagined Order, was unceremoniously flattened by the robot bear’s fist. Jones and the Foundation then hopped into the Zero Point to chase after a mysterious figure named Geno, while players were tasked with destroying the chassis surrounding the singularity.

A brief tease at the very end showed Jones and the Foundation falling through the air and fist-bumping before settling on a holding screen while the team over at Epic Games gets the new season ready. This time around it’s a soothing nature scene in a grotto with bioluminescent mushrooms and plants all around and the words “to be continued” in the bottom right corner. Playing over it all is a peaceful synth track that the Fortnite Twitter account has confirmed is license-free.

The Fortnite Twitter has also tweeted a link to the Fortnite Look Book website that offers players a glimpse at some of the new outfits they’ll be able to unlock in next season’s Battle Pass. The Look Book also appears to confirm that the new season’s theme is Vibin’, which appears to have a skater/hip-hop aesthetic.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3’s start is imminent, but there’s no word on when exactly it will begin. So until that launch trailer drops, all we can do is wait. Fortnite is available almost everywhere, including Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta), and PC via the Epic Games Store.
