HUMANKIND Has Been Delayed To August 2021

Ambitious strategy game Humankind is getting its release date pushed to the Summer of 2021 for tightening up. The SEGA (publisher) and Amplitude Studios (developer) game was originally intended to release on April 22nd but after testing, has found itself in need of some extra polishing ahead of its new release date of August 17th. The development team will be focusing its sights on perfecting its accessibility, pacing, balancing, diplomacy, AI, and much more.

Amplitude’s Chief Creative Officer & Studio Head, Romain de Waubert de Genlis talked about the studio’s reasoning for the delay stating, "It's been exciting to see the community get their hands on the game during the last few OpenDev sessions and to hear all the positive (and constructive!) feedback. Players have always been at the heart of Amplitude's philosophy and releasing HUMANKIND in August will allow us the extra time to keep working with the community and polishing the game for an amazing day one experience."

There is a bright side to this for folks who’ve already pre-ordered the game in the form of some exclusive content, free of charge. These players will be granted the “Lucy” avatar set as well as the “Edgar Allen Poe” avatar set. These sets will let the players customize their leaders with them. As always, let’s hope that this delay makes its launch day bug-free and ready to go.

Humankind releases this August 17th for PC.
