Latest DESTINY 2: LIGHTFALL Trailer Shows Off New Gear

Bungie is getting ready to launch the latest expansion for their long-running space shooter, Destiny 2: Lightfall, and as the release date gets closer they’re showing off more of what we can expect when it drops later this month. This week brought a new video showcasing some of the new and exciting gear coming with Lightfall, including weapons and armor focused on the new, Strand subclass.

The flashy trailer kicks off with a dazzling opening reminiscent of the intro animation to Cowboy Bebop before offering up info on each of the weapons over footage of them in action. The full list of gear on display includes:

·       Final Warning – a Strand Sidearm that fires tracking rounds when charged

·       Deterministic Chaos – a Machinegun that weakens enemies on the fourth round and makes them volatile (read: explosive) on the 16th

·       Winterbite – a Stasis Glaive that fires frost orbs that freeze any enemy they hit

·       Cyrtarachne’s Façade – an Exotic Hunter helmet that provides additional armor and flinch resistance after using the new Strand Grapple mechanic

·       Abeyant Leap – these Exotic legs add Strand projectiles to the Titan’s barricade that track enemies down and suspend them in midair

·       Swarmers – as the name suggests, this Exotic armor piece gives Warlocks the ability to summon Threadling minions after destroying Strand tangles

The trailer also shows off Quicksilver Storm’s catalyst effect that creates Strand tangles with each kill from the gun’s alternate grenade fire. These tangles can then be thrown at enemies to immobilize and suspend them, which will no doubt play into different character builds once the expansion goes live.

As expected, there’s a heavy emphasis on the new Strand subclass with many of these gear pieces. That said, Bungie isn’t shying away from giving existing subclasses some new toys to craft builds around, which will make the new in-game loadout system even more useful. And this comes after recent updates to the mod system and engram economy that players have long been asking for.

We won’t have to wait too much longer to try all this gear out, as Destiny 2: Lightfall launches on February 28th, 2023 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
