Nintendo Switch Online Service Will Launch In The Second Half Of September

Last February, Nintendo revealed that the upcoming online service for the Switch would be available in September. Now, the company narrowed down the launch date and announced that the service would be released in the second half of September.

Ever since the launch of the Nintendo Switch back in March 2017, online play has been currently free. However, when Nintendo Switch Online launches in September, players would have to subscribe to the service and pay a monthly fee, to access the console’s online features. The monthly subscription is priced at $3.99 a month, $7.99 for 3 months, or $19.99 per year. A family plan is also available for $34.99 that allows up to eight Nintendo accounts to be linked in a subscription.

Furthermore, a subscription will also give players access to cloud saves and select NES games that Nintendo promises will grow in the future. Nintendo initially planned to have the service up in late 2017 but was further delayed until September 2018.
