SOMETHING COOL: ARMORED CORE VI: FIRES OF RUBICON Collector's Edition

FromSoftware took a huge leap out of nowhere when they announced a new Armored Core game. Fans were used to the idea that soulsborne games were their go-to but as the games industry has revealed time and time again, nothing is ever certain. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon has been a success. But how do the editions outside of the base game fare? The collector’s edition has a solid amount of good stuff for fans and collectors alike.

The edition obviously comes with the game, but the main selling point must be the statue. It’s a mech suit with attachable hands, weapons, and two helmet designs. It’s a neat figure. The only part that’s confusing is that it has the same plastic feel as an action figure but it has zero maneuverability which goes against the game’s whole deal. A statue made from metal, or some harder material would be better if it was just meant to sit on a shelf. The figure also comes with a baseplate and a construction manual, although construction is limited and simple.

The pack consists of a clean steel book that’s silver with black designs and pictures outlined in black. Steel books are always fun so nothing to complain about there. The coolest piece in my opinion is a giant white art book that shows the art from Armored Core VI. Art books are very underrated and open a door into the creator’s mind that just the base game can’t always unlock. There are also a few pages of stickers which are useful for decorating, military-styled badges, and a QR code that allows access to a soundtrack for the game.

Overall, it’s a solid collector’s edition. I wouldn’t recommend it to casual players because stickers and some badges can’t bring up the price justifiably. The standout pieces are the statue, steel book, and art book, but three items aren’t enough for a true collector’s edition so purchase at your own risk.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
