SOMETHING COOL: New Wave's M90 MINI And MICRO Boombox Speakers

Products Provided by New Wave Toys

Whether you are looking to amplify some tunes or blast away the silence while playing through your favorite games, the two M90 MINI and MICRO Boombox Speakers in New Wave Toys lineup are what you need. Coming in both a Micro and Mini version, these speaker boxes are modeled after the famous JVC RC-M90 boombox from 1981, also known as the “King of Boomboxes.”

Their more simplistic option is the M90 Micro as it is small enough to fit in your hand and truly only has one connection option; Bluetooth. Opening the box, you will only find the M90 Micro, a charging cable, and a manual booklet. The only cable this device takes is the USB-Micro and that is so you can charge it. The power button is also located on the back and when you power it up, it plays a specific tune. Holding the power button will also turn off the device, which there is a specific tune when it is powered down as well. Of course, you can’t have a speaker without volume control and so on the front of the speaker box, the knob that would usually tune the radio station actually controls the volume.

Both the Micro and Mini M90 Speaker Boxes will automatically open pairing for Bluetooth when they are turned on, so there is no hassle with trying to get it to work. Simply power on your speaker box and pair to it on your chosen device or console.

The M90 Mini is the more costly device, but it is far more worth it! This speaker box option is the size of a small boombox and has multiple functionalities to it. For starters, opening this box you will find the M90 Mini, a charging cable, a manual booklet, a pack of 4 XL tuning knobs, and one Mini Cassette Tape Prop. On the back, you will find this device charges with a USB-C cable, along with a slot for a Micro SD card, a USB-A plug-in, and an AUX input jack. All three of these are different ways for you to plug in your music and play it directly on the speaker. If you don’t have a device holding your music, you can always switch it to the radio mode, raise the antenna’s, and play your favorite radio station through it; but you’ll have to find the radio station the old-fashioned way by turning the knob.

Another cool thing about the M90 Mini that the Micro doesn’t offer is sound quality options. Multiple knobs on the front of the box are actually usable and can be used to adjust the Bass, Treble, Balance, and Volume of the sound. Plus, if the knobs are too small, you can switch them out with the XL Knobs they included in the box as backup. This also comes in handy for those who device to use it as a personal speaker box when plugging in a microphone directly into it.

It is worth noting that the M90 Mini functions mainly off of a wired controller you plug into the front of it. This controller has your power, mode, play/pause, review (rewind/go to last track), and cue (fast forward/go to next track) buttons. The cable gets pretty long that you don’t have to be right next to the speakerbox, but if you are playing your music directly into it, then you will have ot use the controller to manage the music.

The M90 Micro is available now for $59.99 and the M90 Mini is available now for $159.99. The M90 Mini also has a traveling case available for $19.99 and fans can get a neat Mini Casette Tape Prop for $4.99.

In similar news, New Wave Toys has proudly announced its homage to hip-hop history with a limited edition collaboration between its M90 Big Power Mini and Micro Bluetooth speakers and two trailblazers: the legendary MC Slick Rick and acclaimed urban artist BUA. The iconic M90 boombox is one of the most recognizable portable stereos from the early '80s and an important part of early hip-hop and b-boy culture, providing a soundtrack to the streets that defined a movement.

WIth a limited number of units available, they are currently offering the M90 MINI Blaster Artist Series BUA & Slick Rick and the M90 MICRO Blaster Artist Series BUA & Slick Rick!
