Super X-Fi – Living Sound
From blowing up Nazis and zombies on Call of Duty to watching Vin Diesel drop a wrecking ball on unsuspecting chase vehicles, audiophiles everywhere have one complaint. They can never get truly immersive sound. Unless you have money to blow, you can never experience what sound is supposed to feel like. Anytime you try, you get the cops called on you because your neighbors heard 'gunshots'. The folks over at creative decided enough was enough and they meant it.
Full-bodied sound the size of your finger.
I know, it’s unbelievable that the little 'dongle' above can give you sound as good as a 5.1 dolby digital surround sound system, but it absolutely does. I can even tell you how it works. First we start with the app from Super X-Fi. This app takes a digital image of your ear and uses algorithms to map how you personally hear sound. From there a personal hearing profile is created and input into the Superthreaded Floating Point X-Fi UltraDSP SOC, or in other words, the little black dongle in the picture. (That name is more than a mouthful).
How does it perform?
Thanks to the dongle’s (if I used the name we’d be here forever!) custom design it can process 8 channels of high definition 24 bit 96KHz of audio simultaneously. It exceeds 100db of signal to noise ratio dynamic range. What does it all mean? The lows were clean and powerful but not overpowering. The highs were crystal clear with no distortion. Surprisingly the mids weren’t drowned out at all. In fact they were just as clear and powerful as the lows and the highs. If you have never been an audiophile you will be after using this device. Having used the device I finally understood what was meant by flat sound. When the device was turned on it suddenly sounded like I was in the music recording room with the artist.
Price and Release.
I know what you want. You want to know when you can get your hands on this dongle and do you need to give up your left kidney. The answer is sometime this summer and a possible price of $150 respectively. I know 6 months is a long time to wait to hear music like it’s meant to be heard, but it’s worth it guys. I’ve got something to tide you over until then as well. Visit www.sxfi.com. Here you can sign up to be notified for when the app comes out and be among the first enjoy amazing sound samples directly on your phone. You're welcome.
