The Second Trailer For THE SUPER MARIO BROS MOVIE Just Dropped

Illumination and Nintendo have just released the second trailer for the anticipated animated film, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The first teaser was released in October and was met with heavy criticism of Chris Pratt’s Mario voice. This second trailer gives us a better idea of how his take on Mario will sound. Check out the trailer above.

The new trailer gives us a glimpse of what the movie will be about and shows us that Mario and his friends will travel across the universe to many different worlds, in order to save it from Bowser. Jack Black lends his vocals to Bowser and seems to steal the show. It will be interesting to see how these personalities mix together on-screen.

The animation looks superb and it seems that Illumination still has a high precedent on comedy, which is a good thing. Nobody wants a serious Mario movie. It seems like movies based on video games are becoming more popular than ever with the likes of Sonic The Hedgehog and Uncharted both being successful takes on the game franchises before them. There is also The Last of US TV show releasing on HBO MAX early next year and currently, a BioShock film is in the works at Netflix. Let's hope this positive momentum continues for video games, as we all know that it is one of the best mediums for storytelling.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to release in theaters on April 7, 2023.
