TONY HAWK'S PRO SKATER 1 & 2 Are Getting Remastered, Again!

I don’t think there was a game that was more culturally impactful for my area growing up than the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games. Once they released everyone wanted to Skateboard, my uncoordinated self included. Things became even crazier with the release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 when even more people hopped into the game and real-life boarding. By the time Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 rolled out though the phenomenon had subsided and only a few dedicated people kept up with the sport. I wasn’t one of them but I sure did love the games! That time between Tony Hawk and Tony Hawk 2 really sticks with me to this day and the series remains one of my favorites to date.

When it was announced that the best parts of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 would be getting combined into a single game dubbed Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD, I was extremely excited. Unfortunately, that game didn’t turn out quite well and didn’t really capture the magic of what made its source material so great. Even with the Tony Hawk 3 DLC that came out post-release, I couldn’t bring myself to fully finishing the game. But today, it would seem that Activision is wanting to take another stab at remastering these 2 classics the right way!

What started out as a series of leaks today has now been officially confirmed, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 are coming back in a new HD remaster bundle! The games are set to include all the original levels with completely reworked art and lighting. Gameplay will be the same classic play of the originals and even most of the original games stellar soundtracks will be included! New Online multiplayer modes are going to be introduced along with a new set of creation tools to let you build skaters and skate parks! Currently Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 is set for release on September 4, 2020, for PC, PS4, And Xbox One! Pre-orders are going live and if done digitally will include access to a demo version of the iconic Warehouse level. The Demo availability will be announced at a later date.

I am incredibly excited about this release and from the brief gameplay trailer, it seems to capture what makes the game so great. What do you all think of this announcement?
