Ubisoft Pushing for the Rise of Virtual Reality Experiences
Ubisoft has partnered with Triotech, a leader in the attraction industry, to create new virtual reality experiences. The first of these experiences will be an interactive maze based on the Rabbids franchise. Judging from the trailer, players will be in a physical maze and tasked with collecting any loose Rabbids they come across. The second experience is based off the newly released Assassin’s Creed Origins. This experience focuses on exploring the inside of an Egyptian temple. According to Deborah Papiernik, Senior Vice President of new business for Ubisoft, the experience is going to feel realistic.
“Because of the correspondence between the physical and the digital content you will definitely have an impression you were there, you were in an Egyptian temple when you’re going to try this experience.”
Triotech is working on each experience being completely scalable from small rooms of around 10 square feet to being big enough to be used in amusement parks.
This isn’t the first time Ubisoft has partnered with another company to bring to life VR experiences. At E3 2017 we saw the debut trailer for Transference, a collaboration between Ubisoft, SpectreVision and actor Elijah Wood. Transference aims to have players feel like they are in a movie with which they can actively interact. Unlike the Trilotech experiences however, Transference will be an experience you enjoy from your own home. Both Trilotech experiences and Transference are expected to become available in 2018.
