Ever since Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man was announced for PC, we knew that there was a community of modders out there rubbing their hands together in anticipation. Now that the game has been released for a little while we have seen a plethora of Spidey mods getting numerous daily uploads. These mods vary in a bunch of ways from some changing the city you swing around in, to crazy model swaps of Spidey himself.
As someone who has been closely following the steady release of mods, I wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the mods I consider to be pretty damn cool. I am only going to be looking at four mods that particularly stood out to me so I, unfortunately, did have to cut a couple of my close runner-ups. Let's get to it!
1. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit
It’s no surprise that after the incredible reception of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans were eager to jump back into Marvel’s Spider-Man for the Playstation 4 and 5. Although one gripe lingered that had yet to be resolved. While we had officially made suits in the game for the Tobey Maguire movies and Tom Holland movies, we only had the Andrew Garfield-worn suit from the first Amazing Spider-Man movie. His suit in the sequel had changed dramatically and has become a fan favorite, yet it was nowhere to be seen. Now that we have the PC release of the game modders have come to the rescue and designed the suit from the ground up which is a rare instance, even within the modding community. A ton of love and passion has been poured into this mod and many other modders have had their turn at tweaking this base. I personally loved using it upon getting the game and really haven’t looked back since.

2. Classic Villains
Spider-Man’s villains have become iconic from the Green Goblin portrayed in the Tobey Maguire films to Venom popping up in almost every Spider-Man-related piece of media. While I adore the redesigns on display with Insomniac’s interpretations of these classic characters, I do yearn for the good old days of cheesy outfits and ridiculous backstories. This is where the Classic Villains mod comes into play. Taking the models of the Sinister Six and swapping them out for the iconic classic variations make replaying the second half of this game a real treat. They all look perfect and are actively being worked on by the creator. I can’t wait to see more from this modder and am looking forward to a full classic playthrough of my own.

3. Venom
With the hype for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 rising in the background, we inevitably can’t wait to see Venom come to the game universe we have fallen in love with. While it might not be a direct translation of the design Insomniac showed off in their latest trailer, this mod brings the Venom we saw in the Venom movie starring Tom Hardy. I personally love this design of Venom and it is a massive treat to be able to swing around the city and experience the cutscenes as the big and nasty Venom! Plus this bigger and bulkier model doesn’t seem to have any issues with cutscenes which is a really nice welcome, making the experience as seamless for a mod as possible.

4. Supaidaman!!
While protecting the innocent is great and all, being the emissary of hell is kinda cooler! I grew up loving the Tokusatsu genre from Power Rangers to Kamen Rider and Ultraman, they all hold a special place in my heart. So, naturally, when I first found out about the Japanese variation of Spider-Man I immediately fell in love with it. It’s cheesy, goofy, and pure Tokusatsu craziness, actually becoming my most anticipated potential suit leading up to the initial release of Marvel’s Spider-Man on the Playstation 4. Alas that suit was never officially released but luckily a modder recently released this suit to the public and it is awesome! It’s exactly what I wanted from a suit like this and captures the classic nature of the old show perfectly. All we are missing now is some old sound effects and that classic intro theme!
So there are four Spider-Man mods that caught my attention. Let me know down below if you would like to see something similar to this kind of content in the future. What mod has become your favorite? Let's have a discussion in the comments!
