Celebrate The Pokedex Reaching Over 1,000 POKEMON!

It’s official and time to celebrate! The Pokemon universe has officially surpassed 1000 different Pokemon after 26 years since the first original games were released. Pokemon Red and Green released in Japan is where it all started under the original title Pocket Monsters: Red and Green back in 1996. Now, with the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, we have officially reached 1,008 different Pokemon in the Pokedex!

To celebrate, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have put together a video featuring the classic gameplay and a counter as they go through the many years of Pokemon releases. For those curious, the official Pokemon entry for #1,000 is Gholdengo, a genderless Steel/Ghost type.

Our Pokemon journey is far from over as this series is one that has shown that it intends to continue! But now that we have surpassed 1,000 Pokemon, we are left with two questions. Which one is your all-time favorite? And have you managed to catch them all?
