Diamonds In The Rough
I would lying if I said I was impressed with Call of Duty: Vanguard’s beta back in September. It was extremely rough to say the least so it’s a huge relief to see a game improve so much in a very short amount of time. Vanguard’s campaign is solid so far and definitely beautiful to look at but how is the multiplayer portion of the game shaping up? Well, I’m having a blast, especially with Champion Hill mode.
Champion Hill pits Duos or Trios against a whole other set of teams with multiple lives, rounds, and buy rounds to combine an intense, white-knuckle expanded version of Gunfight that I am enjoying immensely. Not only are the different perks, skills, and teamwork variations a breath of fresh air, it also is a fantastic way to level up your characters and weapons.
Even though my skill level isn’t up to snuff with some of the best players that appear in Champion Hill, it’s nice to see lower and higher ranked players duke it out across PC and consoles where it rarely ever ended up with the highest level characters winning every match. I am still in the lower levels of the MP ranks but I partnered up randomly in duos with a higher ranked player and we shred our way to 2nd place. Not bad for this old man and most importantly, I am having FUN and isn’t that what gaming is all about?
