CollegeHumor Sold; Massive Layoffs Follow

One of the pillars of Internet media has seen better days. On January 8th, 2020, it was announced that the company had been sold and nearly all of its staff (roughly 100 employees) had been laid off. Bloomberg reports that only “5 to 10” employees remain staffed.

To some observers and particpiants, the writing had been on the wall for a while. Adam Conover, host of TruTV’s Adam Ruins Everything (which span off from a series of popular CollegeHumor skits) explained in a tweet from October 2019, that the site had been staffed based on over-inflated data provided by Facebook.
