CONTROL ULTIMATE EDITION Announced With Next-Gen Capabilities

Introducing Control Ultimate Edition, launching August 27th on Steam. Heading to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Epic Games Store September 10th. Control Ult...

Today we learned that Remedy would be releasing Control Ultimate Edition. The news came just days after the Alan Wake Expansion announcement. The ultimate edition will include the entire Control experience for just $39.99. You’ll get the base game, all of the newly updated features, The Foundation DLC, and the Alan Wake Experience DLC too.

You can pick it up on PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X, Steam, and Epic. People that purchase the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game will get a free upgrade to their next-gen consoles on top of everything else. While it releases on all of the platforms listed above there are differentiating release dates depending on which one you choose to play it on. Whether you’re buying a digital or physical copy also changes your release date as well.

For digital, Steam leads the pack with a release date of August 27th, followed by PS4, Xbox One, and Epic on September 10th, and finally, PS5 and Xbox Series X set to get theirs by the end of the year. The physical copies for PS4 and Xbox One are coming out by the end of the year while PS5 and Xbox Series X are set to get them in early 2021. The fact that the physical copies are coming late is a total bummer but Remedy sites the global pandemic as the reason of their late release on them.

The unfortunate part of the new edition of the game falls at the feet of gamers who already own the vanilla version of Control. To be able to play the game on next-gen consoles you’ll have to purchase the ultimate edition even if you already own the original game. The site where you can see the information surrounding the game does not say whether the PS5 or Series X versions would also be that $39.99 price point as well. Hopefully, they don’t go over that but with the current hike in price we saw with NBA 2K21, it’s not far off to think it could happen with this title too.
