Mirrored Souls is a new upcoming cozy indie puzzle platformer from developer The Bricks Studio and publisher Short N Sweet that will be landing on Pc and consoles later this month. The game features an interesting take on puzzle solving that has players controlling the two main characters, Ravi and Daru, at the same time and on a mirrored screen, while solving puzzles with the goal of reuniting two celestial beings that have been separated forever.
Unlike traditional platformers, Mirrored Souls provides a relaxed atmosphere that encourages players to contemplate their actions. The hand-drawn art style draws inspiration from Studio Ghibli's iconic films and games like Gris and Journey. The game's developers have crafted a "single-player-coop" concept, where both characters are controlled simultaneously on a mirrored screen. Precision in movement becomes vital, as the characters' actions are mirrored, but their worlds remain separate.
Mirrored Souls is not just about solving puzzles; it's a journey of philosophical exploration. With references to titles like Braid and Journey, the game delves into the theme of love and the fleeting nature of life. Traverse portals and face challenges that require creative thinking rather than racing against a ticking clock.
Mirrored Souls will launch on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, and Nintendo Switch on August 23rd.
