It’s official, Blizzard’s Diablo IV is the fastest-selling game they have ever made, and for good reason. You can check out the full review here, but this game is a near masterpiece and will provide countless hours of game time. Some may rush through the game, overlooking some of the secrets that await the average player. There are plenty of secrets scattered about, but let's take note of one that could easily be missed. The cellars.
Dungeons and cellars are similar in that they both provide loot. However, dungeons do provide much more rewards since they do take quite a bit longer to complete. Cellars are much smaller, containing just a single room with enemies and provide a chest once completed. Dungeons are multi-room areas that usually provides better loot, earns you renown, and earns an Aspec for the Codex of Power. So, dungeons are clearly more lucrative but also more time-consuming. One might ask, why even bother with the cellars? The answer: Treasure Goblins.
Cellars have the random chance of spawning multiple Treasure Goblins at once! These elusive goblins do not attack but they do flee the level rather quickly. They carry enormous bags of gold and loot which can all be your if you are quick enough to kill them before they teleport out of the level. These randomly generated enemies have a rare chance of spawning anywhere in the game, so having multiple spawn at once is a true sight to behold! I personally managed to come across this in my early access days and I was able to kill 2 of the 3 goblins. I was severely underpowered but I know if I run into them now, I will surely decimate them all.
You can check out a quick breakdown video below from DM: Diablo 4’s YouTube Channel. The great thing about this random event is that it can happen at any time in any cellar, so make sure you check every cellar you pass by! These Treasure Goblins will always drop a good amount of gold and rare or legendary loot. It definitely makes it worth your while to pop your head in a cellar every session.
