Taking players on a journey where they can meditate and invoke beloved memories to combat the darkness within ourselves was the initial goal for solo developer Jason Oda. After teaming up with tinyBuild, he has been able to get his title Waking on track to launch on both PC via Steam and Xbox One, but now we have an official release date. After giving a mostly positive first impression, I have to say that I am looking forward to this game launching on June 18th.
As you are locked inside a coma, you traverse through your dreams. Here you have to find and face the memories that you can use to fight against the forces within the darkness. Traverse the twisted pathways of your mind in a quest to wake, and make choices that shape a uniquely individual experience. In order to fight against the call to the eternal void, you must face fears and desires as you summon memories of loved ones and battle against those that would have you sleep forever.
