The latest free-to-play RPG from MiHoYo has hit PC, Android, and iOS. Honkai: Star Rail is the fourth in the Honkai series, a turn-based battle counterpart to the ARPG system of the developer’s wildly successful title Genshin Impact.
Honkai: Star Rail follows the story of The Trailblazer, an artificial humanoid implanted with an extremely powerful and dangerous artifact called the Stellaron inside them. Following a cryptic prophecy, they travel the galaxy aboard the train-like ship, The Astral Express, looking for answers and the individuals who created them.
This journey will take the Trailblazer and their new-found friends across many worlds and into many stories.
While the game is graphically slick, the battle system is a classic turn-based format with a modern twist. Characters have different skills and roles within a team, and a special ability that, once charged, can be deployed at any time in combat, regardless of whether it's the character's turn in battle or not. This leaves the door open to use moves to interrupt big attacks from enemies or change the flow of events in other ways.
Honkai: Star Rail is available to download and play for free on PC, Android, and iOS, a PlayStation version is scheduled to release later in the year.
