Larian Studios is not releasing a video game, they are working on an experience. With the final Panel from Hell they announced EVEN MORE customizable options and content for Baldur’s Gate 3. The final panel from Hell dives deep into everything from a customizable serial killer protagonist, to the importance of character identity, all the way to the ability to wild shape into a dinosaur.
Character Reveals
Over the past three weeks, Larian has been leaving a breadcrumb trail of clues that are all leading to the reveal of their final playable Origin character in the community-driven murder mystery Blood in Baldur's Gate. In the end, the community murdered themselves, and with their last waking moments revealed their brutal killer and his mysterious companion. Their murderer being the final playable Origin hero Dark Urge, by default an imposing dragonborn with alabaster skin and eyes that come with a piercing gaze of a predator. Unlike other playable Origin characters, Dark Urge is fully customizable, class, appearance, species, and gender all completely up to you.
In another reveal, following Lord Enver Gortash (Jason Isaacs) and General Ketheric Thorm (J.K. Simmons), we get a look at the third and final antagonist, Orin the Red voiced by Maggie Robertson. Orin the Red is a shapeshifting murderess with the goal of painting the streets of Baldur’s Gate in blood.
Character Creation
A huge part of Baldur’s Gate 3 seems to be the option of self-identity. You will get to be exactly what you want to be, being able to customize everything from your appearance to stats, and even your background. You will get to choose if you want to be a hero, a villain, or a lively bard traveling the roads of Faerûn with your trusty lute. At launch, players will get to experiment with even more ways to create diverse, personalized characters. With new skin options like freckles, vitiligo, scars, and tattoo designs. It even gets as deep as allowing your character to appear with heterochromia. On top of actual body changes, there will be lip makeup customization, accessories like earrings or piercings, and for the horned folk (Tieflings), horn color customizations.
Romance
For those who like to really immerse themselves in a more personal way, there are new options for you too. Baldur’s Gate 3 offers ample opportunities for romance with the characters you grow the most fond of. With that, you can also expect that no two relationships will follow the same formula. The emotional connection with one party member may slowly bud into a mutual physical desire.
