Fantasy Flight Games, the Minnesota-based board game developer, has announced a new standalone game in the Cosmic Encounter universe. The thematic strategy classic now features a two-player variant called Cosmic Encounter Duel.
The game, along with a mat, is available for pre-order!
Cosmic Encounter Duel is a competitive experience in which two players vie for control in outer space. The first to take over five planets wins. Ships, tactics, and the abilities of alien races will all factor into the overall strategy.
Two alien races are fighting to become a Certified Civilization in the Cosmic Citizenship Council. Only one will win. Each alien species possess unique abilities that will manipulate the gameplay mechanics. Players will also use spaceships for movement and planetary control.
Cosmic Encounter Duel will feature simultaneous actions with players drawing and resolving cards. The three card types are Discovery Cards, Event Cards, and Refresh Cards. Each has its own purpose, whether that be planetary control, cosmic encounters, or recovery.
