For some, May 4th is known as Star Wars day. To others, it’s just the day before Cinco De Mayo. As someone who’s just recently got back into Fortnite in the last few months, I’ve been starving for Epic to bring the Star Wars-themed items back to the game.
I was hoping that May 4th would come through for me as I had managed to save my V-Bucks without spending them and was given the “Ok” by my wife to go bananas and get whatever I wanted. Unfortunately, 8 pm EST came around but there was not a single Star Wars item in sight via the item shop. Instead of seeing brand new items from a galaxy far far away that had been rumored throughout the internet, on Star Wars Day, we get Batman.
Now, Batman is my favorite superhero and I must admit that this new set, Batman Zero, is amazingly cool. I just wish that it didn’t come out today though. It just feels like a gigantic letdown when compared to loading the item shop with Star Wars goodies. I’m not the only one who feels this way either.
There are also tons of comments on the tweet that announced this new Batman set. Of course, most are hilarious memes poking fun at Epic’s release date choice. People like myself are let down and no one is sure why they felt that this was the best day to release the new Zero set.
It’s also really weird that there wasn’t a single Star Wars item in the shop and what’s even weirder is that the Fortnite Twitter account didn’t even acknowledge the holiday at all. It’s just all-around weird. Who knows, maybe we’ll get some Star Wars love on Revenge of the Fifth? Just trust in the force and maybe it’ll come true.
