Supergiant’s critical darling, Hades, is coming to Xbox consoles on August 13, 2021, and will be launching directly onto Xbox Game Pass. Hades featured in its own, brief segment as part of the Xbox + Bethesda E3 Showcase with an accolades trailer showing off the many Game of the Year awards and critical praise the game received when it launched last year.
While this announcement happened at Xbox’s press conference and focused on the game’s release for that platform, the game is confirmed for release on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. All platforms will see both digital and physical releases on August 13. Initially released as an early access in 2018 exclusively on the Epic Games Store, Hades was developed during its early access phase over the course of roughly two years. Supergiant chose to launch Hades in early access during the process to allow for fan input on new features and content.
Hades officially launched its 1.0 build on September 17, 2020, for Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo revealed the game’s release from early access at their September 17, 2020, Partner Direct as a same-day, digital-only launch. The Nintendo Switch received a physical version of it a few months later on March 19, 2021.
