We all know that Elden Ring was a well-deserved Game of the Year for 2022, but what if it was made before game technology was as advanced as it is today? The YouTube channel Rustic Games BR is known for making popular video games in the form of classic PlayStation 1 (PS1) titles, along with some other variations. Shortly after Elden Ring took home the Game of the Year award, they got to work and set up a clip of Elden Ring in the form of a PS1 title.
In the video, he gets up from rest, collects an item, enters a boss room, and takes on Godfrey! All with the notorious still-frame camera angles that change based on where you are in the room and the boss with his mighty powers. Plus, we get a glimpse of the classic pause menu, inventory system, and a bunch of little nuances that pull the nostalgia together.
The fact that he won the fight at such low health and with the battle being a close fight was all very fitting to how the experience of Elden Ring is for most players too. What did you think of this retro-styled version of 2022’s Game of the Year winning title?
