This year has been full of game announcements happening digitally, but this type of game reveal is nothing new to the annual Gamescom event. Many are used to catching this event live instead of in person and I have to say it was nice to have a sense of regularity in these times of unusual and creative gaming announcements. That being said, Gamescom 2020 has been full of indie game reveals and updates that you should definitely be excited for!
Little Nightmares II
Continuing the strange world where we play as the small, yellow-raincoat wearing girl named Six and try to escape the dangerous oddities that try to entrap us. Bandai Namco has revealed not only the official release date of February 11, 2021 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch - with the added bonus that those who purchase on PS4 or XB1 will get a free next-gen upgrade for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X - but they have also revealed the story in a new story reveal trailer.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood
Bringing out a new light to the Werewolf: The Apocalypse series, NACON and Cyanide presented us with a trailer featuring Cahal. Showing off both his life and past of our protagonist werewolf of the Fianna tribe. Witness the tragic fate that forced this married father into exile just to keep those he loves safe from his own rage. There still isn’t a release date, but we know it will eventually launch on PS4, PS5, XB1, and XSX sometime in 2021.
Remothered: Broken Porcelain
Bringing us the next chapter in the Remothered series following the critically acclaimed Remothered: Tormented Fathers is Stormind Games and Modus Games. With everything in place and the release date already announced for October 20th on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, they revealed the final thing we wanted to know before getting in; a story trailer. Get to know what you have awaiting you in the Ashmann Inn with their latest trailer “Whispers.”
Transient
From Stormling Studios, known for their experience horror game Conarium, comes a Cyberpunk world filled with H.P. Lovecraft influenced horror. Simply called Transient, this game will take you deep into an obscure dystopian world to learn the terrifying truth of your life in a doomed city. Be prepared to face a truth that could have you question your sanity this October on PC via Steam, followed by both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2021.
Monster Truck Championship
Time to get behind the wheel of one of the 16 vehicles and enter into the five different event types as we try to claim the Monster Truck Championship title! Coming to PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 15th, NACON and TEYON wanted to show off some of the content this game has in store for us, including a showcase of a handful of the 25 different stadiums and circuits these events will take place at.
Grime
A unique 2D action-adventure RPG will have you fighting with weapons you never would have imagined before. Fight through punishing battles using weapons in a living, mutated form and function, then consume their remains with a black hole to strengthen your own vessel. This brutal fighting game from Clover Bite doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will eventually launch on Steam and it definitely looks intense!
AWAY: The Survival Series
Giving players the chance to play through the events you would expect to see on a nature documentary, Breaking Walls puts us in the fur of a sugar glider. There will be time spent playing as various other animals, but from the demo that I played a while back and this new gameplay walkthrough, you can tell that we will be spending most of our time as this little guy. Set to release sometime Early 2021 on PC via Steam and PlayStation 4, this is a title to keep an eye on for sure.
Quantum Error
Experience a new sci-fi action-horror title from the dark minds at TeamKill Media. After a successful launch of their first title Kings of Lorn, this team jumped right back into development to bring us a whole new kind of terror, but this time with a gun and a new kind of unfamiliar setting. There may not be a launch date or confirmed platform list just yet, but this official story trailer has me ready for the action!
Then to end off the indie game list to pay attention to I wanted to share the full Iceberg Ahead video that showcases all the games that indie game publisher Iceberg Interactive announced during Gamescom. The most interesting title to me was Transient, which is listed above, but it’s an awesome round-up of all the options they have in store for us in the coming year!
