Konami Reveals METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION VOL. 1 Releasing This Fall

Konami dropped a major reveal during the PlayStation Showcase with the announcement of the long-rumored Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake. But they aren’t finished with Metal Gear yet! They also revealed a new line of remastered collections for the series that will be released on new-gen hardware. Currently, it is only confirmed for the PS5. The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 will feature the following titles according to the PlayStation Store description:

The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1:

  • Metal Gear

  • Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake

  • Metal Gear Solid (Including VR Missions/Special Missions)

  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (HD Collection version)

  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (HD Collection version)

This new collection will allow these games to be playable on new hardware, further preserving their original format. Not many details have been revealed about this collection, but the official website states “The METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION allows fans to play the games as they were, as first released on the latest platforms.” So it seems like there might not be much new for those who own the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection that was released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 nearly 12 years ago. However, being able to play these titles on modern hardware is still a treat for long-time fans and will usher in a whole new generation of fans for the series.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 will be released this Fall. It is currently confirmed for PlayStation 5.
