It isn’t often that AAA game developers reveal anything about a new title they are working on when it’s in such early stages that it still doesn’t have a title. Even so, KRAFTON has just dropped a trailer dubbed ‘The Nhaga Eater’ and shares a few details behind the project. One main detail is that they are working with Design Director Iain McCaig, a Hollywood veteran with credits on blockbuster franchises such as The Avengers, Terminator, Harry Potter, and Star Wars (notably designing Darth Maul in the prequel franchise).
The visual concept trailer was created using Unreal Engine 5 and highlights the mystical tone they’re aiming for with entertainment projects based on The Bird That Drinks Tears. The world and character designs seen in the trailer are based on vivid concept art created by McCaig. In addition to the untitled game project, the visualization project is positioned to guide the aesthetic and tonal directions of various multimedia projects based on The Bird That Drinks Tears, including a graphic novel and motion picture.
In fact, the final product of that collaboration will be published as an artbook later in 2022 and the graphic novel is planned for a 2023 release. Other than that, KRAFTON has put together a development crew called Team Windless to continue active development on the untitled game project based on the novel.
