LAWBREAKERS Dev Says Switch Port Difficult Due To Lack Of Buttons?

In perhaps the oddest excuse a developer has given yet regarding a Switch port, Lawbreakers Cliff Bleszinski states that it's very difficult to port the game to the Switch due to a lack of buttons. Read the quote and continue on below to learn how that remark doesn't make sense:

There’s a possibility for everything and anything in this world. I think the hardest part with the Switch is the controls. Look at the game that we have right now, and we just literally by the skin of our teeth put the entire game and the control pad that the PlayStation has. That means that we could probably make it work for the Xbox One in someway, right? But if you’re looking at the Switch the base controller that’s on the unit, it doesn’t have as many buttons.

There is a slight problem with that statement, and really the only issue with it is the Nintendo Switch has the exact same number of buttons as both the PS4 and Xbox One. I take that back, the PS4 has ONE more button if you count the touchpad in the middle, which supposedly is vital to the experience.

I suppose it's better than the "too low-tech," excuse third party devs without the foresight to develop for the console in the wake of it's success are throwing out, but still another cop-out rather than admitting "We didn't know the Switch would be something people want, maybe we'll release the game on there down the line." Is it so hard for developers to just tell the truth?
