At first glance, LAYERS OF FEAR isn’t too scary. The ultimate epitome of a slow burn and eventually a descent into madness is what I would say to describe this perfect game for a cold Halloween night. If you haven’t experienced this modern masterpiece from Bloober Team before, the reworked 2023 release has a ton of content, extremely impressive graphics and sound plus all sorts of upscaling options so you can really crank those graphics settings and enjoy some of the finest atmospheric environments yet.
Exploring these twisted yet beautiful worlds, paired with a quality surround system or a set of cans and you’ve got yourself an intimate and extremely intense gaming session ahead of you. I will warn you though, what starts out slow and subtle turns into terrifying madness quite quickly. While not the most intense game I’ve ever played, I promise your heart will be pumping. Crank up those graphics and volume, and thank me later for a true Halloween gaming treat you won’t soon forget…
