Viewers were treated to a pleasant surprise at yesterday’s EA Play Live event when EA and Zoink’s showed off their latest title, Lost in Random. The game is a story-driven adventure set in a Tim Burton-esque world. You’ll find yourself facing off against enemies in explosive dice battles, giant board game arenas, and even more!
Lost In Random revolves around a young girl named Even as she journey’s through the Kingdom of Random in order to save her sister. Along the way, you’ll meet Random’s many residents and a new teammate named Dicey, who’ll aid you on your mission against the wicked Queen.
Even’s abilities and such can be further enabled by collecting coins from around Random. You'll want to find as many as possible because these abilities will make your encounters much easier to navigate. Even also has a trusty slingshot at her disposal and Dicey has its own set of skills to use as well.
“When we first started this project, we knew we wanted to create a fairytale that was a bit darker than what we’ve made in the past; we ended up drawing these different characters and concepts, but it wasn’t until this painting of a girl and her dice appeared that we knew there was something more to explore,” said Olov Redmalm, Creative Director and Lead Writer for Lost in Random, during the EA Originals Spotlight at EA Play Live 2021. “A tricky aspect we had to deal with was determining what the gameplay would be like - we wanted the theme and gameplay to revolve around the dice, but had to consider what was too random and what was just random enough. We feel it’s all grown very naturally out of that central idea.”
Lost in Random releases September 10, 2021, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Origin and Steam).
