Now note, I'm saying easier, not cheaper. Nobody has every accused PC gaming of being cheap. That being said, the leading GPU designer, NVIDIA, has released a new designation for its many available graphics processors known as "GeForce GTX VR Ready". This labeling system will include any pre-fabricated PCs and laptops with built-in GPUs that can handle the daunting task of high-res virtual reality. Important to those of us who build our own rigs, it will also be a label included on any add-in cards that NVIDIA creates. No longer will it be required to plow through a list of system requirements and hope that you might have the right card for the job. Instead, you can just check the badge on your shiny new computer or GPU. This is good news, considering 2016 is promising to be the year that VR really makes its mark.
Minimum Requirements to be GeForce GTX VR Ready:
- GeForce GTX 970 or 980M
- Intel i5 4590 CPU (or equivalent)
- 8GB RAM
- USB 3.0 (2 ports)
- HDMI 1.3
- Windows 7 with Service Pack 1
