Sony’s State of Play presentations have become a staple of their marketing over the years, often offering in-depth looks at upcoming games from both in-house and third-party studios. They’ve ranged in style from variety showcases to deep dives into specific titles, often eagerly anticipated exclusives like Horizon Forbidden West and Ghost of Tsushima.
PlayStation has decided to kick off 2023 with a fresh State of Play coming later this week that will feature a smattering of different games, including some new titles for the brand-new PSVR2. While the details are still light for this State of Play, we do know that it will reveal five new PSVR2 titles alongside “hot indies and third-party reveals.”
The show will then close out with a lengthy look at Rocksteady’s latest project, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The associated blog post offers some more info on what to expect from the latest DC video game, including some “all-new gameplay details and updates.” We’ll likely learn more about how the game actually plays during this presentation, including how much of the image that leaked earlier this year was true.
As for the unrevealed games, there are quite a few indie and third-party games Sony has planned for this year. Little Devil Inside has been featured at State of Plays in the past yet still doesn’t have a firm release date, and Square Enix is still hard at work on both Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth.
We’ll only have to wait a few days to find out what Sony has in store, as the first PlayStation State of Play for 2023 will air on February 23rd, 2023 at 1 pm PT/ 3 pm ET.
