Quick Review: GHOSTRUNNER 2 - Runnin' Away

Gameplay

The gameplay was as expected for a game of this type and fast paced parkour roguelike game, for speed running. It was fast paced frenetic and intense. I appreciated what it was going for with the gameplay mechanics, and I liked when it introduced the grappling component for zooming to walls and ledges. I liked the sliding and wall running mixed combat and the overall speed of the game.

Audio and Visual

The sound was spot on and clear and matched what was going on from moment to moment. The music was upbeat and intense to match the atmospheric pace and combat. You would enter a new area, and then the enemies would spot you and the music would start pumping to get your adrenaline going for the fight ahead. The graphics were smooth and slick and kept up with the games speed. Its presentation of a futuristic world was accurate and detailed.

Feedback

I think the game could have benefitted from more exploration and storytelling and lore. It needed more depth for me personally, and it came across a bit gimmicky and shallow.

Conclusion

I'm not really one for this type of game myself, but I did appreciate what it was going for, face paced crazy momentum-based combat and exploration. The game is responsive and challenging, has solid graphics and effects. The combat is fun, yet predictable. The audio was kicking and fun to jam with while cruising through the levels. Overall it is a solid game for what it presents, and I'm sure those who are into this style of game will eat it up.
