Last year, I had the chance to test out the RIG 800 PRO HS wireless headset, which turned out to be one of my favorite headsets that I have ever owned. Now NACON is back and they are updating their older headsets to have an HS and HX version, making them compatible with more platforms. So, let’s take a look at the new RIG 600 PRO HS wireless headset and see how well it does.

What’s In The Box

Opening the box, I found everything I needed to get started. You have the headset itself, the USB-C adapter to connect it to the device, and a short charging cable. This headset doesn’t need much to initially get set up, but it is a bit difficult at first - depending on your gaming area setup - due to how short the charging cable is. At least it is a standard port.

Aesthetics and Build Quality

While most of the aesthetics feature a slick black design, they also have the headset available in Arctic Camo for PlayStation (HS) and Urban Camo for Xbox (HX). The design of the headset is simplistic yet genius though. The headset can be adjusted by popping it into one of the three adjustment slots on the side, but the headband on top is cushioned and stretchy so both users who prefer the tight fit and those who prefer a looser fit can set the headset up to their preference and comfortably wear it. This is a similar design that I saw on the RIG 800 PRO headset and I am glad to see it continuing to be used.

From the little bit of stress testing I have done, the plastic and rubber bits that make up this headset are quite sturdy and are able to withstand some damage. It didn’t take any apparent damage from my drop tests on both carpet and hardwood flooring. Plus, the microphone part is very flexible and holds its position once you put it there, which didn’t seem to wear down at all in my time using this headset.

Specs and Audio Quality

As usual, RIG has provided some clean audio quality on both the receiving and sending ends of the headset. You can really hear everything going on in the game when you use these headsets and the mic tests I ran through recordings and voice chats all came out very positive. While I wouldn’t call it record-worthy, it gets the job done very well.

What It Could Have Done Better

Initially setting the headset up with my PlayStation 4 was a bit of a hassle. I had to fully charge it (since it came out of the box with less than half a charge), connect it with the wire, set up the adapter, and connect it to the adapter - all before I could even hear anything from the console. This process could have been simplified, which they have done in later versions of their headset series. This wasn’t a big deal, but it was a bit annoying to deal with. At least it was a one-time issue.

Verdict

The RIG 600 PRO HS wireless headset is a very good headset that is both comfortable and fitting for multiple types of players. Sure, it had a bit of a nuisance with its initial setup, but once you get it working, it is sure to be one of your favorite headsets to use. I personally prefer to connect the headset with the USB adapter option as it seems to have no delay when I use it, but the fact that there are options for connection is something else. This is easily a headset that I suggest picking up if you are looking for a new one.
