Sony Is Cancelling Its Plans For PAX East Next Weekend Thanks To The Coronavirus

Sony Interactive Entertainment has released a statement stating that they will be pulling out of next week’s PAX East event due to rising concerns of the Coronavirus. The statement which can be found below outlines that the safety of Sony employees must be taken into account and comes as a major factor in the decision.

Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment made the decision to cancel its participation at PAX East in Boston this year due to increasing concerns related to COVID-19 (also known as “novel coronavirus”). We felt this was the safest option as the situation is changing daily. We are disappointed to cancel our participation in this event, but the health and safety of our global workforce is our highest concern.

Sony originally had plans for a number of events to take place during PAX East and their cancellation is sure to be felt on the event as a whole. I must applause Sony in its efforts to keep employees safe though as conventions are a huge conduit for spreading diseases. If you are attending populated events make sure to mitigate your chance for disease by washing and sanitizing your hands regularly and refrain from sneezing in other peoples faces. Oh, regular bathing is also appreciated, don’t be the smelly person!
