After months of waiting since its announcement, Stardew Valley for the Nintendo Switch is finally upon us. The ever so popular faming sim is coming to the Nintendo Eshop later this week, coinciding with the date of this year’s harvest moon on October 5.
When Stardew Valley was first released on the PC, I was immediately drawn to it as it delivered all the best features from previous Harvest Moon games plus many more. When it was announced on the PS4, I got even more excited as I wanted to play the game on my TV but hated the idea that I couldn’t bring it on the go as I could with my laptop. Well, when the Switch version was announced, I nearly fainted because it is the perfect platform for it and it meant that I could play on the go and on my TV, which is the best of both worlds!
The Switch version of Stardew Valley was long awaited by fans as it was supposed to be released for the Wii U but was cancelled last November to move to what was then Nintendo’s upcoming console. Nothing was heard from the developer after the announcement and many speculated that the project was abandoned until Chucklefish tweeted that the game was submitted to Nintendo for testing and all we had to do was wait.
Stardew Valley will be retailed on the Nintendo Eshop for $15. This latest version will also be the first console iteration to receive the game’s multiplayer update soon that will let players share their farm with up to three people. Chucklefish announced that it is planning to do a beta testing of the multiplayer version on the PC later this year, and will be released on that platform on early 2018 before it comes for the Switch first, then on every other console.
Stardew Valley is currently available on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
