Team17 Set To Publish WWI Horror CONSCRIPT

Publisher Team17 just partnered up with developer Catchweight Studio to bring its upcoming survival horror Conscript to full release. The retro-looking horror title promise to put a new, more historical spin on the genre.

The trenches of World War One were not the most relaxing places to begin with, but Conscript turns the concept on its head, transforming a setting normally used for action titles into a gritty survival horror where players have to scrabble for resources, alone and surrounded by hostile forces.

Players take on the role of a French soldier at the Battle Of Verdun, searching for his lost brother. To search he will have to dive deep into the hostile trenches, and it's no easy task.

The game is played from a top-down view. Ammunition and useful items are few and far between, and combat is the kind of clunky, stressful experience that the survival horror veteran has come to expect.

Where shooters might set out to make a player feel powerful, this looks set to do exactly the opposite and lay out the grubby, bleak, and desperate side of war.

Conscript is set to be released for PC in 2024, and a free demo is available now via the Steam page.
