Saber Interactive announced a while ago that they were planning on bringing their popular co-op zombie shooter, World War Z: Aftermath, to next-gen consoles with some beefed-up features. The frantic zombie shooter is finally releasing for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on January 24th and will include some much-appreciated next-gen upgrades.
Firstly, it’s important to note that owners of the original game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC will all benefit from a free upgrade to the new version. Players can expect vivid 4K resolution and 60 FPS action on their respective platforms. Along with the new stellar visuals and performance boost, WWZA will also receive a new mode fittingly titled Horde Mode XL which will be exclusive to the PS5, Xbox Series, and PC versions of the game. This new mode throws in a random wave of over 1,000 zombies to pummel through with your friends.
WWZA will also receive some new features that will be available on all platforms, including the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game such as new weapons and a revamped weapon progression system. If you are a fan of the “zombie waves” meta-genre, World War Z: Aftermath is an easy choice. Add in 4-player co-op as well as full crossplay functionality and you have one of the best co-op experiences you can play with friends to date.
World War Z: Aftermath and its free update are launching on January 24th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC vIa Steam as well as the EGS.
