Top 5 Force Users Who Deserve Their Own Game

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has set the gold standard for all other Star Wars campaigns to come.

With the recent official announcement from Respawn and EA that there are currently three new Star Wars games in active development, we’ve taken the liberty to bring you our wish list of top-tier force-sensitive characters that deserve their own game. While Cal Kestis has a great story and we can’t wait for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2, we also just want more Star Wars games in general. There are a ton of potentially awesome leading characters that deserve their own game and plenty of lore to be explored in the Star Wars universe that spans thousands of years. Let’s get started.

Mace Windu

We are going to start this list off with one of the most powerful Jedi in the history of Star Wars, Mace Windu. Mace practiced the vaapad fighting style which tilted dangerously close to the dark side. Skilled vaapad users were very dangerous to the Sith because they could channel dark side energy used in combat and deflect it back to their opponent. Mace used this in Revenge of the Sith to nearly defeat Palpatine before Anakin intervened.

For this reason, Mace Windu would be an awesome Jedi to play as with lightsaber combat being a heavy focus. Players could explore Mace’s early days at the Jedi temple, leading up to his eventual promotion to Jedi Master and taking a seat on the council. Now we just need Samuel L. Jackson to lend his lovely voice talent, and we’ve got ourselves a new Star Wars game worthy of its own AAA adventure.

Darth Maul

The vengeful apprentice, leader of the Mandalorians, and the deadly Sith Lord would all be acceptable titles for our next top pick. Although Darth Maul is not a Jedi, he is too cool of a character to not have his own game. Thanks to the Clone Wars and Rebels, Darth Maul has one of the best story arcs throughout all of Star Wars, and it would be great to play through any of these eras.

A long time ago, there was a Darth Maul game in development that unfortunately never got to see the light of day. Game Informer revealed to the world that this Darth Maul project hit a snag due to the Disney buy-out. All projects were frozen, and this intriguing Darth Maul game never had a chance to force choke its way to the spotlight. You can check out the gameplay footage below.

Darth Maul is such a complicated and badass character whose past is still largely shrouded in mystery. A game based on his apprenticeship with Sidious could be set prior to the prequel films and lead up to The Phantom Menace. This would give players the chance to grow their skills as they progress through the game and eventually become a Sith Lord. The other cool thing about setting the game during this era is that we would be able to see Sidious work his way up the chain of command, revealing a side of him that we don’t see much of in the films. It would be interesting to see the trials Sidious would have Maul endure during his path to the dark side.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan Kenobi has been a fan-favorite character since his first appearance back in 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope. He is another great, powerful character who still has his own struggles throughout the saga. There are many different points in his life a game could focus on, but what if we got an Obi-Wan co-op game during the time he was training Anakin as his padawan?

We could play as a fairly young Obi-Wan during his Jedi Knight years, between Episodes 1 and 2. Having an entire Star Wars campaign in co-op could also build upon the relationship that Obi-Wan and Anakin had. The game could even show flashbacks to when he was an apprentice with Qui-Gon Jinn and allow players cooperative gameplay in an earlier era.

With the Obi-Wan Kenobi show coming out this May, the character is going to get another surge in popularity, and his relationship with Anakin is about to become more fleshed out. This would be a great opportunity to further explore their relationship in earlier years and provide the perfect excuse to give us what we truly want: an Obi-Wan and Anakin co-op campaign!

Yoda

“War does not make one great.” Well, when it comes to video games, sometimes it does. Yoda is probably the number one on this list when it comes to the most potential and creative freedom that a new game could offer. Yoda lived for 900 years, and there is plenty of time to explore his life as a young Jedi.

Currently, he features in the High Republic Era of books that are giving fans some insight into what Yoda was like 200 years before The Phantom Menace. Playing a game as a two-foot Jedi would be undeniably cool. It could feature over-the-shoulder combat, similar to God of War, that gives players the perfect perspective of Yoda’s aggressive lightsaber combat style: up close and personal.

Yoda is one of the strongest force users to ever live and having a game that would allow us to pull off some unbelievable force powers would be insane. Imagine playing as a young Yoda in his prime on Coruscant, fighting mobs of enemies as you run through the futuristic city to defend the Jedi temple. It sounds like a dream come true, so why hasn’t this been made yet? I’m crying inside.

Ahsoka Tano

The apprentice to The Chosen One, Ahsoka Tano is another fan favorite that deserves a spot on the list, simply because we need more Ahsoka in Star Wars. Thankfully, the character is getting her spotlight on the small screen with her very own show coming exclusively to Disney Plus sometime next year. However, Ahsoka’s story intertwines not only with the Skywalkers, but also with Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren.

This opens up a multitude of possibilities for story direction. As far as gameplay goes, Ahsoka would not play like any other Jedi, since she is neither light nor dark side intuitive; she wanders as a grey Jedi which could lead to some interesting lightsaber combat and force powers. For example, we could see slightly more aggressive combat than you might expect from an Obi-Wan game.

Since the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, there has been a new hope for Star Wars games to offer the complete, AAA package. A fantastic campaign, a likable cast of characters, and solid gameplay mechanics were the key ingredients that Fallen Order was able to implement almost flawlessly. The potential for Star Wars video games is infinite, with a vast amount of characters and lore left to be explored.

Did one of your favorite Jedi not make the cut? Maybe you think a new Star Wars game about a smuggler or bounty hunter would be better? Tell us all about it in the comments!
