Tunic, the charming, Zelda-like from Andrew Shouldice and Finji, is launching today on PC and Xbox consoles, and it was just revealed that the game will also launch as part of Xbox Game Pass. The long-awaited, indie darling received a new, gameplay trailer at today’s iD@Xbox showcase where it was revealed that the game will be joining Xbox Game Pass at launch.
The new trailer showed off more of Tunic’s colorful world, including new enemy types, new environments, and the variety of items and spells Tunic will have at his disposal to take down enemies. The trailer also shows off the game’s gigantic boss battles, which will push players to master Tunic’s simple-yet-elaborate combat systems.
Tunic tells the minimalist story of a young fox who ventures out on a mysterious quest to plumb the depths of an enigmatic island. The game eschews traditional, text guides in favor of encouraging player experimentation and discovery and is full of punishing enemies and devilish traps that can’t wait to end the player’s life. Death is part of the formula, though, and learning the game’s intricate levels is a key part of the experience.
Tunic launches today for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. It will also join Xbox Game Pass as a day one launch. For more on Tunic, check out why we thought last year’s Tunic demo was fantastic.
