In a surprise announcement, yesterday Xbox revealed that its cloud streaming technology is now available on iOS devices and PCs via a supported browser for all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Up until yesterday Xbox Cloud Gaming on these devices was only available through an invitation sent out via email. The service had initially launched on Android devices last September and is only now expanding to all iOS devices and Windows 10 PCs.
In addition to the expansion of Cloud Gaming Xbox announced that their streaming servers have been upgraded with Xbox Series X technology to provide better performance, visuals, and load times for streamed games. Games will stream at up to 1080p and 60fps on compatible devices, and the announcement also promises that Xbox will “continue to innovate and add more features to enhance your cloud gaming experience.”
More than 50 of the games included with Game Pass have also received touch control support, allowing players to dive right in without any external controllers. If a proper controller is something gamers are interested in, though, Xbox also unveiled new Backbone and Razer Kishi controllers designed to work natively with both iOS devices and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
