Blaster Master Zero is an 8-bit style, top-down, and sideview 2D action shooter game by Inti Creates that has already proven highly successful on the Nintendo Switch and 3DS thanks to its good quality and fun gameplay. Some of the most prevalent complaints about the game, however, are that it seemed a little too easy to some and that it could've probably been longer, all of which Inti Creates is hoping to address through the game's 1.2 update.
The most noteworthy feature that Update 1.2 will add is a Destroyer Mode, which is essentially an unlockable new game plus hard mode that is clearly intended to appease the concerns of both current and prospective players in regard to the game's difficulty. Similarly, the update will also be adding an EX Character Mode that will let players take on the game as characters from other Inti Creates franchises such as, Gunvolt from Azure Striker Gunvolt and Ekoro from Gal Gun and Mighty Gunvolt. Much like Shovel Knight's character-based DLCs each character will have a unique set of abilities that will change the dynamic of how players approach each level, thus adding replay value and breathing new life into the game.
If you were on the fence about it but are now considering picking up Blaster Master Zero for that down time between Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon 2 keep in mind that EX Character DLCs will only be free for a limited time and will cost $1.99 after the two week free download timeframe expires. Gunvolt will become available May 4, 2017 and will be free from May 4 to May 17. Ekoro will be released on June 1, 2017 and will be free from June 1 to June 14. Update 1.2 goes live May 3 on the Switch and May 4 on the 3DS.
