A week ago, speculation began circulating in the gaming community when developer Capcom registered a Devil May Cry 5 domain name. As expected, the developer announced the new game during Microsoft’s E3 press conference with an announcement trailer.
Capcom claims that the game will serve as a direct sequel to the previous title in the franchise, Devil May Cry 4, which was released a decade ago back in 2008. The upcoming installment in the franchise will see the return of Nero, who has lost his arm from a previous incident, which was the source of most of his abilities. Now, Nero sports a new metal arm that is designed by Nico to “kick demon ass.”
The upcoming Devil May Cry game will have Hideaki Itsuno returning as the game’s director. The announcement trailer showed plenty of demon battles as Nero traverses the streets using some of the series’ notable weapons together with new gadgets such as a grappling hook fist. Of course, the trailer ended with the franchise’s hero, Dante, sporting a short beard and looking bad-ass in a motorcycle. This scene just shows that the game will be set in the canon Devil May Cry storyline.
Devil May Cry 5 is scheduled for a release on Spring of 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
