PlayStation revealed a brand new Resident Evil 4 Trailer showcasing new locations, and enemies, along with some new surprises coming to the game this March. RE fans may have thought that Capcom might not be able to keep up this remake streak, but it seems like Resident Evil 4 might be the best one yet. Check out the full details revealed at PlayStation’s State of Play down below.
The trailer has revealed RE4’s famous locations of the Salazar Castle as well as the Island. It seems like the game is sticking to the darker tone which makes for a more realistic environment, however, it seems like the game is keeping quite a bit of its original dialogue. So, fans of the cheesy lines can sleep safe tonight because it looks like, at least some of them, are returning. We also get a glimpse of the Krauser fight, both El Gigante fights, and even the creepy blind slasher thing from the castle’s dungeon area. The game is bringing back some serious nostalgia and it is looking fantastic.
Some of the best news to come out today involve some freebies for Resident Evil 4. Players can expect a free “special demo” coming very soon, which has been a franchise norm for all RE titles since I can remember. The other freebie announcement was the inclusion of The Mercenaries mode, which is coming to RE4 as free DLC post-launch. For those unfamiliar with the mode, it is a time-based and points-based challenge mode that requires the player to take out as many enemies as they can within the time limit. Kills made in succession rack up bonus points. Any fan of the series would surely be familiar.
It has been rumored that the game will feature some sort of multiplayer mode, but nothing has been confirmed at this time. But, here is to hoping The Mercenaries mode will feature co-op play! I suppose we will have to wait and see if multiplayer will be included with RE4 or not. Thankfully March is not too far away.
The last bit of RE news to drop recently was Capcom announcing the development of a VR mode for Resident Evil 4 for PSVR2. There are very few details at this time but it is awesome to hear, nonetheless.
Resident Evil 4 launches on March 24th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. It is also currently in development for PSVR2.
