Everyone knows how much of a home run mixing choose-your-own-adventure gameplay to The Walking Dead franchise. Telltale popularized this approach with their multigame series, but after Telltale shut down and was resurrected there seemed to be no hope for The Walking Dead to receive the rub like it did in the 2010s. That’s no longer the case as GameMill Entertainment and AMC have come together to create The Walking Dead: Destinies, a game that allows players to relive seasons 1-4 of the hit drama series but with an added caveat. The game will play out based on player choice. This means that the events of the show can either be followed entirely or a whole new path can be crafted.
Players will start out as Rick Grimes wakes up in the hospital. He’ll have to go through the same areas as the Hershel Farm and Woodbury but the choices along the way will craft the narrative. Shane can become the group’s leader and even survive. The Governor could stay a villain or be recruited to the group! The possibilities are plentiful. The team can be built up from twelve iconic The Walking Dead characters and used in exciting third-person combat. Resources and weapons, along with team member health, will need to be maintained and preserved in a world just waiting to break anyone and anything down.
The Walking Dead: Destinies will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
