The initial title from the new studio Stray Bombay has officially hit Steam’s Early Access and is already hitting relative success. The Anacrusis may have been released with some initial first impressions that were less-than-ecstatic for the game, but it seems the factor of this game’s potential to grow into a great 4-player co-op experience is overshadowing the downsides that are initially present.
In fact, during the first week alone, players combined have killed 1 billion hostile aliens, including 3,264,650 special aliens killed. This early build of the game may only offer the first three chapters, but many content creators have been showing off The Isolode as they play through these levels with friends. To celebrate the 200,000 player milestone, Stray Bombay put together a Streamer Highlight Reel, which can be found above.
On top of this achievement, the team has also put together a blog post to go over the first Early Access Roadmap for the game. You can read up on what the initial focus points will be for the developers as they begin the journey of fixing The Anacrusis into the great game it has the potential to become. Of course, player feedback will play a big role in future updates, so be sure to let them know your thoughts on the game!
Ultimately, they will be using the next few months to fix bugs, make quality-of-life improvements, and add weekly challenges, additional episodes, new fantastical weapons, more thrilling modes, and more. All of this will lead up to their planned full game release, exiting out of Early Access, near the end of 2022. The Anacrusis is currently available on PC via Steam and Xbox consoles along with Game Pass and supports full crossplay between all platforms.
What do you think of the game so far? Do you see a bright future ahead for this alien-based FPS?
