DUSK HD is now available on Steam, and it’s a free update for owners of the original retro-shooter that blew everyone away back in 2018 with its tight gunplay, spooky aesthetics, and superb soundtrack. This free update is a full remaster of the original release and is completely optional for owners of DUSK.
DUSK HD Launch Trailer
Check out the launch trailer for the remaster, and SDK below.
Currently, this release includes DUSK HD, the basic SDK, and Steam Workshop support which will allow Steam users to easily install mod with a few clicks. This means that you can make custom maps, replace textures, and even sound effects.
A deeper modding utility known as the full SKD will be made available at a later date and will allow you to use custom models, enemies, and more.
There is also a new weapon added to the game called the Claw of the Flesh, which looks like something out of Amid Evil.
DUSK HD GOG Release Confirmed
Dave Oshry, CEO of New Blood Interactive confirmed on Twitter that this update is eventually coming to GOG as well.
I wouldn’t hold my breath for anytime soon though, because the Steam release was already quite an undertaking. It’ll be great to own a DRM-free version of the release as well on GOG whenever it does come out.
DUSK is easily one of the best shooters money can buy, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, now is the perfect time to do so. If you weren’t a fan of the original releases’ presentation, the HD version certainly offers enough changes that it’s essentially a different look.
In an age of paid generational updates, and disappointing remasters, it’s almost an anomaly to see a developer releasing a significant upgrade for free. New Blood Interactive aren’t kidding when they say they hate money.
